What is AI Photo Restoration?
The AI Photo Restoration tool brings old, damaged, or faded photographs back to life in seconds. It repairs scratches, tears, dust, creases and fading; sharpens blurry faces; and can optionally colorize black-and-white photos using historically natural tones. Powered by ChatGPT Image 2, every person's identity is preserved exactly — no fake faces, no fabricated detail beyond what the model can plausibly reconstruct from the surrounding image.

FAQ
Will it invent faces or details that were not in the original?
It reconstructs damaged areas from surrounding context, which can include small plausible details — but the prompt explicitly preserves each person's identity. For severely missing faces, results may vary; always compare with the original.
Should I colorize or keep B&W?
For historical authenticity, Restore Only keeps the monochrome look. For warmer family-album use, Restore + Colorize is most popular. There is no wrong answer — try both.
What about heavy damage like missing corners?
Use the Heavy Damage Repair preset. The AI will reconstruct missing edges plausibly, though for very large missing areas the result is interpretive.
Can I print the result?
Yes. The output is high resolution and suitable for photo printing up to standard sizes.
Is the original quality preserved?
The AI improves clarity and repairs damage but tries not to over-sharpen or modernize the look. Use Sharpen & Denoise if you want a more detail-heavy result.
